Our Impact

Providing food and nutrition security interventions to communities

Through the deployment of food banking models to source food while leveraging circularity and environmental sustainability principles to reduce food loss and waste on farms, supermarkets, distributors, retailers, and collaboration with local and international partners, we have been able to salvage more than 98,200kg of foods- pastas, grains, and, beverages, and distributed same to the vulnerable communities, and families that can’t afford two square meals per day.

Since 2019, NHFB has been providing food and nutrition security interventions to Abuja communities, especially the IDP Camps, the People Living with Disability (PWD) Colony at Karonmajigi, and the northern part of Nigeria in a bid to alleviate Child hunger and Malnutrition.

With our Temporary Food Assistance Program (TFAP), Community Breakfast, more than 5,000 vulnerable children has been fed, across the various IDP Camps, in Abuja, with about 26,000 volunteer’s hours put in by our wonderful volunteers passionate about making positive impacts. NHFB is the largest Food Bank in Northern Nigeria which collaborates with more than 6 vetted beneficiaries’ organizations toward addressing nutritional insecurity and food waste.

It recovers healthy surplus food, which may not be sellable but is still perfectly edible, from retailers and manufacturers across the Nigerian food system, through which about more than 6,500 beneficiaries has been reached
